GOP representative says dead babies gotta get delivered:
Actually, the reason the “Old Testament” is included is known. There were originally many different versions of Christianity, and many different “Jesuses”. By “different”, I mean some were polytheists, some thought Jesus was a rabbi who’s soul was taken into heaven (you can read “he was killed” there) and his empty body was possessed by the Holy Spirit until the body’s death, some were what we would liken to Messianic Jews, and some were Christian versions of Greek Gnostics with the Hebrew “God” being the Demiurge (and therefore Jews being followers of evil).
The version of Christianity that survived the first few centuries because it was popular among Romans who were wealthy enough to own slaves who could copy books.
That is actually important, because the Romans were a largely non-literate society who had a genuinely superstitious awe of books. Most Roman magical charms were inscriptions (preferably Etruscan or Greek) on different materials. Among the wealthier Romans, they didn’t have to have the power to read and write themselves, as they could own slaves to do it for them.
And that links directly to the Jews. The Jews were one of the very few minority religions that were allowed to practice their own religion, though they were expected to do it in secret. The Jews were actively encouraged to stay within their own communities. However, they could pray to Yahweh as long as they didn’t act or speak against Caesar. This was allowed because they had books, and among Jewish men there was a functional literacy rate over 50%. All Jewish boys were expected to read on becoming an adult, and most cultivated this skill over their lifetime.
So,
One of the survival mechanisms of Roman Christianity was to claim the Jewish holy texts, which were already allowed in Rome, as their own, thus laying claim that their holy texts must be allowed within Rome. It was an argument to keep their books legal.
I’m the guy who got the Custer’s Revenge reference. I’m deeply sorry.
Keep up the good work!
The Steam Greenlight program is the vetting process. The game was never actually available to purchase through Steam and was removed within a few hours after being posted. Any “developer” can post as many projects as they like to Greenlight after meeting the $100 entry fee. They don’t actually say what the criteria is for being accepted by Steam aside from generating a buzz. Needless to say, Butt-Fuck the Bigot might need to undergo a title change at the very least if Steam is the outlet you wish to use for distribution.
Awesome show!!!
