The Scathing Atheist 
You mentioned Groot, so that’s enough for me to bring it up: one of my favorite parts of Guardians of the Galaxy, is that the villain is a zealot. All of his actions can be explained by one simple fact; all of murder, betrayal, racism, and attempted genocide are easily explained by two words: religious fanatic.

I can’t help but feel like the small minority of atheists/skeptics that identify as libertarian are primarily motivated by a desire to justify being raised in a conservative household and spending a certain number of years embracing the conservative ideology. In other words, republicans who become atheists/skeptics use it to cope with the cognitive dissonance stemming the damage that years of irrational beliefs can do to ones ego.
I see liberals sometimes do it also, clinging to the idea that organic foods are healthier or that nuclear power is evil because liberalism says nuclear power is evil. However it much less tolerated on the whole, being that liberal atheists/skeptics make up the majority of the group population.
…additionally, the total number of asinine illogical sacred cow issues that non-skeptical liberals carry is dwarfed in comparison to the burden carried by non-skeptical conservatives. That makes things easier.
But anyway, the Marxist comment is such a perfect example of retained sacred cows that seem (to me) far more prevalant on the libertarian side of things.
It is really hard to justify in debate the libertarian position of “fuck everyone who isn’t me, whatever situation someone is in, it is 100% of their own doing.”
That gets dicey real quick, so instead you more often get the “Uh oh… I just caught a whiff that my libertarianism justifications might get brought up and/or challenged, and I don’t want to hear it. My cognitive dissonance is finely tuned and hearing something that challenges it could really fuck me all up. So…. You Marxist!! I am not listening to your podcast again!”

But who knows. Maybe I’m just on the idiot’s end of the paradox of assymetric insight…. Doubt it though. I mean come on, Marxist? Is she fucking kidding?
